Ideal Barrel Length vs Handguard Length
For std muzzle devices
If you are using a standard muzzle device such as flash hider, muzzle brake, compensator, etc then the barrel length should be 1″ to 1-1/2″ longer than the handguard.
Barrel length = Handguard length plus 1″ or longer
For Flash Cans or Linear Comps
If you are using a flash can or linear compensator, etc then the barrel length can be up to 1″ shorter than handguard, or longer in length to extend out from the handguard.
Barrel length = Handguard length minus 1″ or longer
